PRESS RELEASE

Erickson Center for the Arts is excited to announce that their annual Songwriters’ Weekend has grown and expanded to two (2) weekends!

The Erickson Center for the Arts presents their 8th Annual Above the Bridge Songwriters’ Weekend(s) in two sessions over the course of two consecutive weekends in June of 2015.

Both ATB weekend sessions will take place at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn and the Erickson Center in Curtis, Michigan.  Each session represents an all inclusive weekend workshop with award winning musicians/songwriters.

Weekend Session 1 - June 18 through June 21 –

Current director John Latini is joined by fellow original staff member Jill Jack, long standing staffers Annie & Rod Capps, and participant favorites Jamie-Sue Seal and David Rossiter.

Weekend Session 2 - June 25 through June 28 –

ATB co-founders, Steve and Rachel Wood, are reunited with current director John Latini, fellow original staff member Billy Brandt and long standing staffers Annie & Rod Capps

These weekends are being offered to songwriters, musicians and music lovers alike.  Each weekend is packed full of songwriting, open-stage time, musical workshops, critique sessions, informal ‘1 on 1’ sessions and performances by award winning artists; plus, great food, a cozy atmosphere, good times and wonderful people!

The public is welcome to come and listen to participants of the Above the Bridge Weekend Session 1 on Thursday and Friday evenings, June 18 & 19, at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn.  On Saturday night, June 20, the public is invited to the Erickson Center in Curtis, where the Above the Bridge staff will perform in concert.

Similarly, all are welcome to come and listen to participants of the Above the Bridge Weekend Session 2 on Thursday and Friday evenings, June 25 & 26, at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn.  On Saturday night, June 27, the public is again invited to the Erickson Center in Curtis, where the Above the Bridge staff will perform in concert.

Billy Brandt - www.billybrandt.com

Billy Brandt is a multiple-award-winning Detroit area singer-songwriter, whose rootsy, folky, psychedelic alt-country background underpins strong songwriting and an adventurous spirit.  Billy’s love for music is infectious, and his embrace of different genres brings a richness and an expanse to his songs.

Annie and Rod Capps - www.annieandrodcapps.com

Annie and Rod have done it all; from rock to musical theater. Drawing from a wide range of genres and influences, they create a unique folk/roots sound that reflects a deep and intuitive understanding of each other.  They've earned high praise for their songwriting and musicianship with two chart-topping albums on the International Folk-DJ charts, multiple DMA nominations, and most recently, as a 2010 Kerrville New Folk Finalist.

Jill Jack www.jilljack.com

Jill Jack has just released a new CD of lullabies, is working on a music video to be released this year, has tours coming up in Colorado, California and the south and has also started a new project featuring a jazz quartet covering the American Songbook!  All of that and only recently returned from a life changing mission trip to Haiti – she’s one busy lady (hey songwriters, that rhymes)!

John Latini www.johnlatini.com

In addition to being a serious crafter of clever, literate songs, John Latini is the purveyor of a slick, blues-soaked, economically hard-driving guitar style – but more than anything he’s an intense, incandescent performer, with an emotional, testosterone-charged voice that the Ann Arbor Observer called “alternately celebratory, remorseful, seductive and dangerous.”

David Rossiter www.hoodang.com

Over the past decade of intense songwriting and performing, David has garnered a reputation as an evocative storyteller of remarkable depth and range.  As leader of Americana roots band Hoodang, David understands what it takes to write from the heart, truly inhabit a song and its characters, and then make that song come alive on stage.

Jamie-Sue Seal www.smokinsleddogrecords.com

Jamie-Sue Seal is an established songwriter, artist agent, manager, concert promoter, label proprietress, networker extraordinaire and tireless all-around roots-music entrepreneur.  A fervid supporter of musicians and the performing arts, Seal is the founder of Smokin’ Sleddog Records; a boutique independent record label, performing arts agency and marketing company.

Steve and Rachel Wood (The Hummingbirds) www.facebook.com/TheHummingbirdsMusic

S.G. and Rachel both share a strong love of music and songs, friendships and intimate gatherings like the ones that are cultivated at Chamberlin’s.  With the release of their third studio CD, recorded and produced in Nashville, The Hummingbirds are excited to share their learning, experience and Americana-Roots music with everyone at the 2015 ATB weekend.
